Explore our residency and fellowship experiences and learn how a UB SPPS postgraduate opportunity can move your pharmacy career forward.
A pharmacy residency is an organized, directed, postgraduate training program in a defined area of pharmacy practice. It provides the knowledge and experience that pharmacy practitioners need to face challenges in today’s complex healthcare environment, while also providing essential skills to meet the practice demands of the future.
A pharmacy fellowship is a one- or two-year postgraduate research training program in a focused area of pharmacy. Fellowship opportunities include the pharmaceutical industry, academia, and government organizations. The focus will depend on the type of fellowship. Pharmaceutical industry fellowships can focus on drug development, pharmacokinetics, clinical trials, and medical affairs, among others. Academic fellowships can focus on clinical and translational research, health economics and outcomes research, and global health, among others. These advanced training programs can be completed immediately after graduating with a PharmD or after completing a residency.
