International Students

International (F-1) students enrolled in the Doctor of Pharmacy program at UB are required to obtain curricular practical training (CPT) or optional practical training (OPT) authorization if/when they engage in IPPE, APPE or employment. Students will work directly with International Student Services (ISS) to obtain the correct authorization.

Internships and Employment

To secure an internship, you’ll need an intern permit, polished resume and practice on your interviewing skills. Your advisor, mentor and networking relationships are good sources to help find and apply for an internship or a job as a pharmacy technician.

We strongly recommend your internship and/or job total less than 10 hours per week during the academic year.

As graduation approaches, there are plenty of resources to help start your ideal career. Offered in partnership with UB Career Services, Bullseye is an online service that makes it easy for UB students and alumni to connect with employers. Opportunities include on-campus jobs, internships, part-time jobs, careers, and more!

Networking

The secret to future success is getting involved, early and often! You should be networking and demonstrating your involvement outside the classroom. We strongly encourage you to network. Most jobs are found by making connections with professionals and alumni.

Each year, we offer free networking events. These are meet and greet events with SPPS alumni and area pharmacy leaders to learn what pharmacists in different disciplines do. This is a great way to make connections and hone your interpersonal networking skills.

We also offer Career Day, an annual event that gives you the opportunity to network with potential employers and obtain information about career and employment options.

To stay up-to-date on networking events offered, follow these instructions to connect to our shared pharmacy student Outlook calendars to view upcoming events.

Seminars and Speakers

Our Pharmacy Series provides important program information, career pathway opportunities, and networking events with practicing pharmacists and professionals.
