The University at Buffalo School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences Office of Continuing Pharmacy Education provides live webinar and online enduring continuing education (CE) activities designed to meet the needs of pharmacists in all practicing settings. Our educational activities encompass New York State changes in scope of practice and required pharmacist CE topics.
The Office of Continuing Pharmacy Education is excited to announce that we are transitioning to a new educational platform, CE21. The new platform provides an easy-to-use interface for registering and participating in our live, webinar and online home study continuing education activities.
Effective January 30, 2026, all live webinar activities will be administered through CE21. When registering for an activity, you will be prompted to create a CE21 account. You may also visit our CE21 home page at any time to create an account in advance.
Our online home study activites will transition to CE21 in March 2026. Until then, they will remain available our legacy CE platform.
The Office of Continuing Pharmacy Education offers a number of online home study continuing education activities, including activities that satisfy New York State continuing pharmacy education requirements such as medication safety and pharmacy compounding.
Until March 2026, our online home study activities remain on our legacy CE platform. After that, they will transition to our new educational platform, CE21.
New York State has established educational requirements in Public Health Law Article 33 §3309-a to raise healthcare provider awareness of the risks associated with prescribing and taking opioid pain medications. This program fulfills the New York State mandate by providing education about state and federal requirements for prescribing controlled substances. This program also fulfills four out of eight hours of the Medication Access and Training Expansion (MATE) Act requirement for all DEA-registered practitioners to complete training on the treatment and management of patients with opioid or other substance use disorders.
Additional continuing education opportunities are available free of charge on the New York State Medicaid Prescriber Education Program (MPEP) learning platform. Following this link will direct you to the MPEP website, which uses a separate login from the UB Office of Continuing Pharmacy Education platform.
The mission of the UB SPPS Office of Continuing Pharmacy Education is to deliver high-quality, accessible continuing pharmacy education activities designed to prepare practicing pharmacists in New York State to adapt to the evolving scope of pharmacy practice. We strive to enhance their knowledge and practical application skills to meet the changing demands of the profession. Additionally, we aim to collaborate with local, non ACPE-accredited organizations to provide interprofessional continuing education opportunities to pharmacists.
