2022 White Coat Ceremony

Our PharmD White Coat Ceremony will be held on Thursday, September 1 at 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. in Slee Hall on UB's North Campus. This event is for new P1s only (and SPPS faculty and staff).  It will be live-streamed for family and friends. Our annual SPPS Welcome Back Picnic will be held later that afternoon at 12:30 p.m. at Ellicott Creek Park.

Directions and Parking

Our White Coat Ceremony will take place on the University at Buffalo North Campus in Lippes Concert Hall in Slee Hall.

Photography Policy

UB will occasionally have a photographer at events such as this. Please be advised that UB may use photographs taken during events for publication in print and online, including social media. Please alert the photographer at the event should you not wish to have your photograph taken.

Instructions for Students

Pre-Arrival

  • Bring your white coat.
  • Wear your nametag.
  • Dress professionally. Leave suit coats off so it is easier to put your white coat on.
  • Do not bring any purses, bags, etc. with you to the ceremony. No food or beverages permitted.
  • Check-in and obtain your name card.
  • Make sure your white coats are unbuttoned and ready for cloaking.

Arrival

  • Arrive at Slee Hall by 9:10 a.m. Sit in the front/middle area, closest to the stage.
  • Transportation: Shuttle - Board 1 hour before check-in. Take the Stampede from Main Circle to Flint Loop. Driving - Allow 40 minutes for travel and parking. Take Bailey Avenue (Route 63) and then follow signs to Millersport Highway (Route 263). From Millersport, take the Flint Loop exit. At the intersection of John James Audubon Parkway and Flint Road, turn left onto Flint Road.  Turn right onto Augspurger Road.  Park in the Slee Hall A or B lot.

Cloaking

1.  You will be instructed to stand up and walk towards the wall closest to the podium.
2. Walk on stage and hand your name card to Prof. Fiebelkorn.
3. Walk to the middle of the stage (find the X) and we will coat you and give you an Oath and UB Pin (affix to the collar of your coat when you get back to your seat).
4. Exit the stage on the other end and return to your seat.
5. During the program, you will be told to stand and recite the Oath. You will say it WITH Prof. Fiebelkorn (not after him).
6. You may move your name tag to your white coat.

Closing

Remain seated until Professor Fiebelkorn asks you to stand as a class and be recognized. Professor Fiebelkorn will announce the closure of the program.  At this time, you will begin to process out of the hall. Please follow the direction of your line monitors. You are free to leave after the ceremony. We will then see you at the picnic.
