Graduate students may request leave for personal illness in accordance with New York State policy in effect at the time the leave begins.
- Students are allowed up to 5 working days per academic year for personal illness or temporary disability.
- Eligibility begins after one semester of service (or its equivalent) in the graduate program.
- Documentation (e.g., medical note) may be required depending on the nature or length of the absence.
- Students must notify their faculty advisor and any course instructors as soon as possible when leave is needed.
- Approval is at the discretion of the faculty advisor or the Director of Graduate Studies (DGS).
