Funded by the CVS Health Foundation, the award supports PharmD students dedicated to community pharmacy and committed to improving access to care, advancing patient outcomes and strengthening public health by reducing financial barriers to their education.

This year, eligibility for the award was expanded to include both first- and second-year students in the professional phase of PharmD degree programs at AACP member institutions, broadening opportunities for participation. Sims received a $20,000 scholarship, one of just 21 awarded nationwide, to help cover tuition and other educational expenses as she works toward her degree.

"Being awarded the CVS/AACP Community Pharmacy Award enables me to continue pursuing my passion for serving my community,” said Sims. “Receiving this scholarship not only relieves a significant financial burden from my shoulders but also reassures me that I am on the right path. Knowing that others believe in my potential enough to invest in my future motivates me to continue working diligently toward my goal of giving back to the communities that have supported me."

“The outstanding individuals recognized this year are well-equipped to make a lasting impact,” said Lee C. Vermeulen, BS ’90, MS, FCCP, FFIP, executive vice president and chief executive officer of AACP.
