Xintian Wu, PharmD ’26, has been awarded a 2025 Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP) Northeast Nexus Scholarship. She is one of only four student pharmacists from the Northeast region to receive this award.
AMCP is a national professional association dedicated to improving patient access to safe, effective and affordable medications. Its members apply expertise in clinical evidence and economics to optimize medication benefit design, support population health management and ensure patient access to cost-effective therapies.
The $1,500 AMCP Northeast Nexus Scholarship supports AMCP student members by helping offset the cost of attending the annual AMCP Nexus Conference. This year’s conference will take place from Oct. 27-30 in National Harbor, MD, where Wu will be formally recognized.
“It’s an honor for me to receive the AMCP Nexus scholarship,” says Wu. “Nexus provides a unique opportunity to expand my professional network and gain valuable insights from experienced managed care pharmacists. It prepares me to contribute meaningfully to patient-centered care and the advancement of managed care pharmacy.”
Wu has been actively involved in AMCP since her first year at the University at Buffalo School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (UB SPPS). Most recently, she served as president of the UB SPPS student chapter of AMCP from 2024-2025, helping to promote awareness of managed care pharmacy among her peers. “The UB SPPS AMCP student chapter is a great resource for pharmacy students interested in exploring non-traditional career paths,” says Wu. “If you’re not yet familiar with managed care pharmacy, I encourage you to attend UB AMCP meetings and discover another side of pharmacy.”
Wu thanks her UB SPPS faculty mentors for inspiring her interest and success in managed care pharmacy. “I truly appreciate Christopher Daly, PharmD, MBA, Irene Reilly, PharmD, and Kalpesh Desai, PharmD, for their mentorship. They introduced me to the managed care pathway and engaged pharmacy students in this important field.”
