The lecture explored how the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences is promoting and improving global health education. Locally, Prescott is leading a UB-funded initiative to educate refugees in Buffalo on medication health literacy. On the international front, she oversees inter-professional student team trips to Latin America, where they assist with medication therapy management at local health clinics. Faculty and student research projects and longer-term clinical experiences in Jamaica, Zimbabwe and Taiwan are also part of the school’s goal to improve pharmacy education and public health.

An initiative of the U.S. Departments of State and Education, International Education Week (IEW) strives to promote international understanding and build support for international educational exchange. IEW is celebrated at UB to expose members of the university community to the diverse perspectives of other cultures and to increase community members’ cross-cultural awareness, curiosity and knowledge.

For over 130 years, the University at Buffalo School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences has continually been a leader in the education of pharmacists and pharmaceutical scientists, renowned for innovation in clinical practice and research. The school is accredited by the American Council of Pharmaceutical Education (ACPE) and is the No. 1 ranked school of pharmacy in New York State and No. 22 in the United States by U.S. News & World Report.
