Javier G. Blanco, Clin. Biochem., PhD, professor, pharmaceutical sciences, received a medal of honor from the Argentine Society of Genetics (SAG) during its 46th annual meeting in Catamarca, Argentina.
Blanco was recognized for his research in the fields of pediatric cancer pharmacogenetics and epigenetic control of therapeutic antibody drugs. His research projects are supported by awards from the National Institute of General Medical Sciences and the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development.
At the annual SAG meeting, Blanco organized and participated in a symposium to discuss the status of clinical pharmacogenetic testing in Argentina. In addition, he gave the closing plenary lecture, “The pharmacogenomics of anthracycline-related cardiotoxicity in survivors of pediatric cancers.”
SAG was established in 1969 to promote the advancement of genetics and exchange of information among Latin American countries.
