Audience: All UB SPPS students

Purpose: The purpose of this policy is to describe policies and procedures for the ‘Pharmacy Building’ as it pertains to building access & security, lab spaces, lockers, maintenance, lost & found, and smoking.

Policy:

BUILDING ACCESS:

  • All students have access to the School of Pharmacy Building between the hours of 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. After 5:00 PM (including weekends) students must swipe into exterior doors, elevators and classrooms to be granted access to spaces they are allowed to access within the building.
  • Students have 24/7 building access to all exterior doors, elevators and classrooms. The exceptions are as follows:
    - Gumtow Library (#260 = 06:00 AM - Midnight)
    - Student Room (#233 = 06:00 AM - Midnight)
    - Computer Labs (#268 = 06:00 AM – 6:00 PM & #345 = 06:00 AM - Midnight)
    -
    Holidays and school breaks if students will need to access the building it can only be done through Swipe Access ONLY.
  • Any students experiencing issues with access to spaces designated to students can contact the Facilities Planning and Management Officer, John DiMura, at 716-645-3002 or johndimu@buffalo.edu.

GENERAL LAB GUIDELINES:

  • Students should not bring any food or drink into a lab space or place any food or drink items in any fridge or freezer that is labeled “No food or drinks.”
  • Walkways and floors must always be clear of debris.
  • All containers within a lab space must be labeled – NO EXCEPTIONS.

REPORTING MAINTENANCE ISSUES / CONCERNS:

  • All maintenance / facility concerns can be reported to the Facilities Planning and Management Officer, John DiMura, at 716-645-3002 or johndimura@buffalo.edu. Clearly describe the issue in detail (i.e. location in building, description of the issue).
  • Any suspicious activity noticed in the building should be reported directly to UB Police immediately (716-645-2222).
  • Do not wait to report any issue that may be noticed.

LOST & FOUND POLICY:

  • Please see the School of Pharmacy Lost & Found Policy.

SCHOOL POSTING POLICY:

  • Students are to only display posted items to areas of the school where display rails or tac boards are located.
  • Posting is not allowed on walls, doors, painted surfaces, windows, ceilings, etc.
  • Items not located in the established areas will be removed by the School Facilities Planning Management Officer.
  • Students should adhere to more in depth posting policies by reviewing the University’s guidelines.

SMOKING POLICY:

The University at Buffalo is committed to providing a healthy, comfortable, and safe smoke-free environment for its students, faculty, staff, and visitors. Organizers of and attendees at public events, such as conferences, meetings, lectures, social events, cultural and athletic events using University-managed property will be required to abide by the University at Buffalo Smoke-Free Policy.
