Accelerated BS/MS Program

The BS/MS is a five-year accelerated program for academically qualified students who enroll as first-year/freshman students, or who are already enrolled in our BS degree program.

Eligibility Requirements

  • New students entering UB as first-year/freshmen directly from high school
    OR
  • Current UB pharmaceutical sciences BS students in their senior year
    OR
  • Transfer students from other programs (time to degree completion will vary based on time of transfer/major change).

Admissions Requirements

  • Current UB students: Minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0
  • Successful completion of all Pharmaceutical Sciences Undergraduate Program prerequisites, including Physics II
  • Two letters of recommendation from faculty knowledgeable of the student's ability and capability. Evaluators should comment on laboratory research, communication skills, creativity, and intangibles in the student's academic performance. An email request will be sent directly to your recommenders when you submit your application for formal review.
  • Personal statement: the personal statement is a general statement of purpose describing academic, professional, and research interests and should be no more than 500 words.
  • GRE is not required

BS/MS application deadline date: November 1 of your final undergraduate (senior) year

  • Click Apply Now and sign in using your existing account information or create a new account to start a new application. BS/MS apply for fall, though they will begin in MS courses in spring.
  • Fill out the application in full and submit it when complete. Once submitted, you will be emailed a link to the Status Portal. 
  • In your portal, submit the application fee payment and supporting documents (personal statement, resume/CV, etc.). 
  • Use the checklist on the Status Portal to ensure supporting documents are submitted by the application deadline. All supporting documents must be received by the application deadline for your application to be reviewed. 
  • Once all application materials are received, your application will be sent for review. If additional materials are needed, you will be notified. Decisions are made on a rolling basis and you will receive a notification once a decision has been made on your application.
