Faculty: Update your UB Profile first

Before contacting us about an award, grant or publication, please ensure your SPPS UB Profile is updated first. Profiles must reflect your news before we can promote your announcement.

How SPPS and UB determine news coverage

SPPS faculty, staff and students are encouraged to share notable updates that may be appropriate for school- or university-level promotion. This includes research publications, grants, awards, media mentions, events and other accomplishments.

Our communications team reviews each submission to determine the most appropriate channels for coverage — such as the SPPS website, social media, newsletters and, when applicable, potential pitches to UBNow or other university outlets.

Examples of news we can help promote

  • Major national or international awards or honors received by faculty, staff, students or student organizations
  • Significant grant funding, competitive fellowships, or scholarships
  • Notable research findings published in peer-reviewed journals, especially those with broader scientific, clinical, or public impact
  • Faculty or staff elected to leadership roles in professional societies or organizations
  • Students elected or appointed to leadership positions in national or regional professional groups
  • Student or student-organization achievements, including competition results, community outreach initiatives or innovative projects
  • Notable or unusual work by faculty, staff, or students, including compelling personal or professional stories that illustrate impact, creativity or service
  • High-profile presentations, invited talks, or participation in major conferences or symposia
  • Media mentions or expert commentary provided by SPPS faculty, staff or students
  • Significant program milestones, research center updates, collaborations or community partnerships
