Balthasar named SUNY Distinguished Professor

Joseph P. Balthasar, BS ’91, PhD ’96, David and Jane Chu Endowed Chair in Drug Discovery and Development, professor of pharmaceutical sciences, and director of the Center for Protein Therapeutics, has been named a State University of New York (SUNY) Distinguished Professor, the highest rank in the SUNY System.

Robert R. Bies, PharmD, PhD, professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and associate dean for graduate education, has been named the 2026 recipient of the Hartmut Derendorf Mentorship in Clinical Pharmacology Award from the American College of Clinical Pharmacology (ACCP).

After more than 13 years at the University at Buffalo, James M. O'Donnell, PhD, dean emeritus and professor of pharmaceutical sciences, is retiring from the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences.
Germakovski, PharmD/MS '26, honored with USPHS Excellence in Public Health Pharmacy Award

Karina Germakovski, PharmD/MS ’26, has been honored with the United States Public Health Service (USPHS) Excellence in Public Health Pharmacy Award. She was one of 85 pharmacy students recognized nationwide.
