Clinical Assistant Professor Erin Slazak, PharmD ’04, has been elected Chair-elect of the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) Self-Care/Nonprescription Medicine Special Interest Group (SIG).
“This is a notable accomplishment and exemplifies Erin’s outstanding national reputation,” says Department of Pharmacy Practice Chair and Clinical Professor William Prescott, PharmD ‘02.
The Self-Care/Nonprescription Medicine SIG facilitates faculty exchange of ideas and innovations regarding teaching methodology, experiential education, research and scholarly activities in the self-care arena and to positively impact student learning.
In addition to self-care, Slazak’s therapeutic areas of interest include ambulatory care and medication therapy management. Her research explores patient-centered pharmacotherapy management of ambulatory disease states and the effect of pharmacist intervention on health care and economic outcomes.
“The AACP Self-Care/Nonprescription Medicines SIG has provided me with a network of faculty who share similar professional goals and interests,” Slazak says. “It ties directly to my role as coordinator of our self-care therapeutics course and my clinical and scholarly efforts in ambulatory care.”
The American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) is a national organization representing pharmacy education in the United States. The mission of AACP is to lead and partner with its members in advancing pharmacy education, research, scholarship, practice and service to improve societal health.
