Pi, a mathematical constant that is the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter, is used by pharmacists every day.

PharmD Class of 2024 officers Dan van Oss, Vitor Mourao, Parisa Halaji Dezfuli and Nicole Castoro hosted “Get Pie’d on Pi Day” and welcomed the return of this event to celebrate Pi Day and have fun with their professors.

Over 20 students attended the event and the following brave faculty members volunteered to be pied.

  • Collin Clark, PharmD, was pied twice.
  • Nicole Albanese, PharmD, was pied once.
  • Erin Slazak, PharmD, was pied twice.
  • Edward Bednarczyk, PharmD, was the only one to escape being pied!

“Pi day was a great success and we appreciate the students who participated and the faculty members who volunteered to be pied,” says van Oss. “Everyone involved had fun and I hope we restarted a tradition to be continued by future classes.”

In addition to throwing pies, students and faculty also enjoyed slices of chocolate-peanut butter, cherry, apple, and pecan pie.
