PharmD students from the University at Buffalo School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences worked to improve the health and safety of the community at the annual Drug Take-Back Day.
Students were stationed at three local sites: Kenmore Mercy Hospital, Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital and DeGraff Memorial Hospital. "We handed out drug disposal pouches along with information on local flu immunization clinics, pamphlets to promote healthy diet and exercise, and medication adherence tools such as calendars and pill organizers," says Gabriella Leto, PharmD' 23, SPAWNY Community Service Chair.
Senior Associate Dean for Student, Professional, and Community Affairs Karl Fiebelkorn, BS '78, helped coordinate the local event, which is a collaborative effort between the Drug Enforcement Agency and the Pharmacists Association of Western New York (PAWNY). Alumnus Don Daly, BS '79, also provided oversight.
