NASP is using the UB chapter as a model to create a nationwide community of student chapters.

"Our organization was founded one year ago at the request of NASP, so we spent much of our time at the conference networking with various board members and students from other schools to help facilitate the creation of additional chapters," says Lydia Deinhart, Vice-President for the UB Chapter of SASP.

In addition to their work for SASP, the students went to various continuing education classes on pipeline updates, standard of care in different disease states, and management of specialty care. They were also given the opportunity to network with leaders in specialty pharmacy, managed care, and software solutions to gain insight into how to manage the relationship between different stakeholders in specialty pharmacy.

The Student Association of Specialty Pharmacy was created to invest in the future of specialty pharmacy practice by promoting student engagement through education, professional development, and networking with members and affiliated partners of NASP.

For over 130 years, the University at Buffalo School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences has continually been a leader in the education of pharmacists and pharmaceutical scientists, renowned for innovation in clinical practice and research.
