Kris Jordan, Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience Coordinator in the Office of Experiential Education, has been selected to receive a 2021 State University of New York Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Professional Service.
The award recognizes consistently superior individuals who transcend the normal definition of excellence by repeatedly seeking to improve themselves, their campuses, and ultimately, the State University of New York.
Jordan has been an integral part of the University at Buffalo School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences for more than 30 years, serving in a variety of professional staff roles, most notably Assistant to the Chair (1996-2007 and 2011-2020) and APPE Coordinator for the school’s experiential education program (1996-present).
“The consistency and quality of her work is beyond commendable,” says William Prescott, PharmD '02, clinical professor and department chair, pharmacy practice. “She is a model staff member who has dedicated so much of herself to advancing the mission of our department and school.”
When the COVID-19 pandemic hit and forced many of the school’s experiential education training sites to close, Jordan stepped up, closely tracking student progress and rescheduling student experiences to ensure necessary requirements were fulfilled.
“Her hard work and strong relationships with our preceptors were a huge reason we persevered through a difficult time, for which I am extremely grateful,” Prescott says.
Jordan will be formally recognized at the UB Celebration of Academic Excellence this fall.
