Fusco and Office of Experiential Education recognized by Class of 2020

Nicholas Fusco, clinical associate professor, pharmacy practice, and assistant director, experiential education, was chosen by the PharmD Class of 2020 to receive the annual Faculty Recognition Award.

Fusco was honored for his leadership, support and guidance of the class during the past four years, and particularly during the last few months.

Students said:

  • “Dr. Fusco helped me tremendously and kept an open line of communication with me when my rotation was canceled due to COVID-19 to help me find something."

  •  “He is passionate about teaching and interprofessional education."
  • “Dr. Fusco has helped the P4 class out tremendously with many difficult situations this year has posed on us."

Recognizing hard work and dedication

In addition to recognizing Fusco, the Class of 2020 had extensive praise for the entire Office of Experiential Education. Many students had their advanced pharmacy practice experience rotations (APPEs) canceled due to COVID-19 but staff members Kris Jordan, Pam Coniglio and Jean Costanzo stepped in quickly to ensure all fourth-year PharmD students would have the necessary APPE hours to graduate. Office of Experiential Education Director Richard O’Brocta oversaw and assisted with their efforts.

Of the staff, students said:

  • “I wanted to mention that the EE office as a whole did a great job helping me.”
  • “Dr. Fusco, Kris Jordan, Pam Coniglio, and Jean Costanzo have been extremely helpful with the Class of 2020 and have navigated through some very difficult situations, all while keeping the best interests of the students in mind. The Class of 2020 would not have been able to succeed without these four individuals."
  • “Dr. O‘Brocta, Kris and Pam have gone above and beyond. They addressed all of our concerns immediately and took into consideration our preferences. They have worked incredibly hard especially for the class of 2020 and we cannot thank them enough. The entire EE team deserves honor and recognition."
  • “Kris Jordan and Pam Coniglio deserve recognition for all of the hard work they put in over the course of the past four years."
