BUFFALO, NY--The University at Buffalo School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences hosted students, scientists and researchers from around the world for two pharmaceutical sciences meetings: the Quantitative Systems Pharmacology Symposium and the Great Lakes Symposium.
The 2019 Quantitative Systems Pharmacology (QSP) Symposium boasted more than 100 attendees. Now in its third year, the QSP brings together scientists to discuss contemporary approaches, including the challenges and opportunities, for advancing the science and practice of quantitative systems pharmacology.
Quantitative systems pharmacology is an emerging approach to integrate information across multiple organizational scales; it represents an approach to translational medicine that combines computational and experimental methods to elucidate, validate, and apply new pharmacological concepts to the development and use of small molecule and biologic drugs.
The complete list of 2019 QSP presenters can be found here.
The 2019 Great Lakes Symposium hosted students from the University at Buffalo, University of Michigan, University of Toronto, University of Pittsburg, Temple University and Ohio State University. The students presented their research in the areas of pharmacokinetics/ pharmacodynamics, molecular pharmacology, drug discovery, drug delivery, drug metabolism and transport, and medical imaging.
The Great Lakes Symposium is a continuum of the Northeast American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS) Student Chapter Conference that was held in 2017 and 2018 at GlaxoSmithKline and Rutgers University. The major objectives of this conference are to promote students’ ability to communicate their research, establish connections among AAPS graduate students, and develop professional networks with pharmaceutical scientists.
