Qing Ma, PharmD, PhD, chosen to serve in NIH Study Section on HIV Comorbidities and Clinical Studies

Qing Ma, PharmD, PhD, associate professor, pharmacy practice, has been selected to serve as a member of the National Institutes of Health HIV Comorbidities and Clinical Studies Study Section, Center for Scientific Review.

Ma is the only member on the panel from a department of pharmacy practice. His term will begin on July 1, 2021 and run for four years.

Members are selected on the basis of their demonstrated competence and achievement in their scientific discipline as evidenced by the quality of research accomplishments, publications in scientific journals, and other significant scientific activities, achievements and honors.

Ma has developed a broad research program that has expanded and evolved into investigating pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of antiretroviral therapy on the central nervous system, pharmacogenomics, drug-drug interactions, and polypharmacy in relation to neurocognitive function in the elderly living with HIV. His research projects involve a multidisciplinary team that encompasses pharmacy, clinical pharmacology, neurology, psychology, substance use disorders and biomarker disciplines.
