Our school has research centers in both the department of pharmacy practice and the department of pharmaceutical sciences.  Major federal and external programmatic funding support our groundbreaking work.

Pharmaceutical Sciences Research Centers

The Center for Drug Delivery is a dynamic academic home for investigators interested in discovering and advancing innovative drug delivery and therapy strategies.

Our center promotes the development of faculty, undergraduate, graduate, and postdoctoral education and research in Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacodynamics. Dr. William Jusko, SUNY Distinguished Professor and Chair of Pharmaceutical Sciences serves as director. 

Our mission is to advance the application of pharmaceutical sciences in the development of protein drugs.

The Center for HOPE (Health Outcomes, Pharmacoinformatics, and Epidemiology) is the foremost producer and evaluator of the healthcare evidence base, serving local, regional, national, and international partners of the University as well as healthcare providers across the globe. Our focus is on optimizing pharmacotherapy in underserved populations.

The UB Center for Integrated Global Biomedical Sciences is an international hub for innovation that brings together scientific disciplines in a nontraditional approach.

We have multiple initiatives in education and scholarship available to expose our students to practical global health concerns, promote culturally competent healthcare, and foster the development of servant leadership in global populations locally, nationally, and internationally. 

Our laboratory is focused on novel approaches to combat bacterial resistance by studying interdisciplinary areas including antimicrobial pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics, clinical pharmacology, bacterial genetics, and translational medicine. We utilize a variety approaches to optimize the profile of new and existing antibiotics including susceptibility and bactericidal testing, the cutting edge hollow fiber infection model, and advanced pharmacometric analysis.

The Research Pharmacy is a fully licensed outpatient pharmacy registered with the New York State Board of Pharmacy. The main purpose of which is to help manage and coordinate investigational drug services via the specifications of clinical researchers.

This center is a collaborative hub for the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences faculty that are interested in clinical and translational pharmacotherapy research activities.

This program focuses on understanding the relationship between the pharmacokinetics of immunosuppressive drugs, pharmacodynamics of immunologic markers, and pharmacogenomic endpoints as related to race and gender of renal transplant recipients. 

The UB-UZ HIV Research Training program (HRTP) supported by the NIH Fogarty International Center, is a postgraduate fellowship training initiative with an emphasis on HIV/AIDS clinical pharmacology between the University at Buffalo (UB) and the University of Zimbabwe (UZ). Program faculty at both institutions contribute mentored training to UZ students and scholars who, in turn, will contribute clinical pharmacology expertise to multidisciplinary teams to achieve the HIV/AIDS research goals for Zimbabwe

The UB School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences partners with the CTSI to help accelerate the delivery of scientific discoveries from our laboratories to clinical practice.
