Zammit and Stramaglia bestowed UB School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences’ highest alumni honors

The University at Buffalo School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences is proud to announce its 2018 alumni awards recipients.

2018 Willis G. Gregory Memorial Award: Kimberly Zammit, BS '86 & PharmD '00

Kimberly Zammit, BS ’86 & PharmD ‘00, has been selected to receive the 2018 Willis G. Gregory Memorial Award. The award is the most prestigious given by the school, honoring an outstanding alumni who personifies the ideals of service, integrity and the profession of pharmacy in the eyes of his or her colleagues.

Zammit received her BS and Doctor of Pharmacy degrees from the University at Buffalo, and completed an American Society of Health-System Pharmacists-accredited hospital pharmacy residency at Buffalo General Hospital.

In her current role at Kaleida Health, Zammit is a Clinical Coordinator for Critical Care and Cardiology and Director for the PGY-2 Critical Care Pharmacy Residency Program.  She holds board certifications in pharmacotherapy and critical care pharmacy through the Board of Pharmacy Specialties.

Since 1993, Zammit has been an adjunct assistant professor at the University at Buffalo School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences as well as an Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience (APPE) preceptor, providing lectures and contributing to curriculum and experiential program development. Her leadership activities include service as president and on the board of directors of the New York State Council of Health-system Pharmacists, and past member of the New York State Board of Pharmacy. In 2009, she was named fellow of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists.

2018 Orville C. Baxter Memorial Professional Practice Award: Mark Stramaglia, BS '81

Mark Stramaglia, BS '81, is the 2018 recipient of the Orville C. Baxter Memorial Professional Practice Award. The award recognizes an outstanding practicing alumni pharmacist who demonstrates high ideals of professionalism and whose practice demonstrates genuine concern for patients.

Stramaglia is currently the Director of Process Services and Business Development at Thermo Fisher Scientific. In this role, he is charged with impacting new product portfolio development decisions that lead to continued overall growth trajectory for the cell culture business. During his more than 20 years at the company, he has worked in various capacities, including marketing, business development, operations and R&D portfolio management.

Stramaglia earned his BS in Pharmacy in 1981 and an MBA in Marketing and Healthcare Systems in 1986 from the University at Buffalo. An enthusiastic and active supporter of the school, he has been a Dean’s Alumni Ambassador and a Dean’s Alumni Ambassador Mentor since 2009, and has served on the UB Alumni Association Board of Directors as a school advocate for more than 14 years.

The University at Buffalo School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences Annual Award Ceremony takes place April 11, 2018, at the Center for Tomorrow on UB’s North Campus.
