Rebecca Brierley, EdM, Assistant Dean of External Affairs, has been selected to receive a 2018 State University of New York (SUNY) Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Professional Service.
The SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Professional Service recognizes consistently superior individuals who transcend the normal definition of excellence by repeatedly seeking to improve themselves, their campuses, and ultimately, the State University.
“Ms. Brierley’s contributions to the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, UB, and her profession are exemplary,” said James M. O’Donnell, dean, School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences.
Brierley has an EdM in education leadership and policy from the University at Buffalo. She began her career in academia at the University at Buffalo Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences and then moved to the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (UB SPPS) as the assistant to the associate dean of clinical education and research, overseeing clinical and educational partnership development, research initiatives and contract development.
In her current role as Assistant Dean for External Affairs, she oversees all school-based communications, marketing and alumni relations activities, as well as managing strategic initiatives.
Brierley also has a university-wide and national presence. She is a member of the UB SPPS Executive Committee and Strategic Planning Committee. She serves on various university committees and is a UB alumni and communications officer. She also has been active in the Administrative Services Section of the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy and currently serves as chair-elect. She is also a member of the Phi Lambda Sigma Leadership Society, the Public Relations Society of America and the Council for Advancement and Support of Education.
