Fiebelkorn was honored for his work in fighting prescription drug abuse. He pioneered the local drug take-back effort several years ago with Dr. Chris Jadoch, ’87, former pharmacy director at Mount St. Mary’s Hospital in Lewiston, NY, and current Assistant Dean at the D’Youville College School of Pharmacy, and Cheryll Moore, Medical Care Administrator for the Erie County Board of Health, who together formed the Western New York Drug Disposal Committee.

Fiebelkorn helped expand the program across Western New York to include hospitals, town halls, schools and fire departments. The Drug Enforcement Administration took notice of the local effort and used the Western New York program as a framework for the current National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day. Fiebelkorn has also been instrumental in encouraging student advocacy in the fight against opioid addiction through partnerships with Erie County Crisis Services and student participation in community health fairs and the local drug take-back efforts.

Fiebelkorn is a PSSNY Bowl of Hygeia Award recipient, Jack Nicolais award winner, and a Pharmacists Association of Western New York Community Service Recognition award recipient. He has served on the Asthma Coalition of Western New York board of directors, the Amherst Youth Task Force for Healthy Youth Board of Directors, and the Responsible Tobacco Retailing Committee.

The Pharmacists Society of the State of New York's mission is to unite the pharmacists of the state for mutual assistance, encouragement, and improvement in order to maintain the standard of pharmacy practice at a high professional and ethical level.
