Karl D. Fiebelkorn has been named Senior Associate Dean of Student, Professional, and Community Affairs at the University at Buffalo School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (UB SPPS).

 He is currently an Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice and served as Associate Dean of Student Affairs and Professional Relations in the School for the past 6 years. He holds a BS in Pharmacy from the University at Buffalo School of Pharmacy and a Masters of Business Administration from the UB School of Management.

In his new role, Fiebelkorn will represent the School on the dean’s behalf and will provide oversight of student, professional, and community affairs.  “Karl has been a strong advocate for pharmacy education, professionalism, and the scope of pharmacy practice,” stated James O’Donnell, Dean of the School. “I have appreciated his counsel during my first year at UB and look forward to a continued strong working relationship.”

Prof. Fiebelkorn will continue to teach in several subject areas I which he is a noted expert. These include pharmacy law, fraud, waste and abuse, medication errors, pharmacy management and administration, managed care pharmacy, pharmaceutical care, counterfeit medications, medication therapy management, pharmacist immunization, and the pulmonary section in pharmacotherapeutics.  

He is a member and officer of numerous professional organizations and advises several professional student organizations. He was the recipient of several awards, including the University at Buffalo School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences Teacher of the Year Award (2008), NCPA Faculty Excellence Award (2008), the Pharmacists Society of the State of New York (PSSNY) Faculty Excellence Award (2009), the Pharmacists Association of Western New York Community Service Award (2009), the Western New York Society of Health Systems Pharmacy Robert M. Cooper Award (2009), the PSSNY Jack Nicolais Award (2011), the PSSNY Distinguished Pharmacy Educator Award (2013), and most recently the APHA/PSSNY Bowl of Hygeia Award (2014).
