Students hold Cultural Night fundraiser

The UB student chapter of the American Pharmacist Association Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP) and the International Pharmaceutical Student Federation (IPSF) hosted Cultural Night, an annual fundraising event for the organizations.

Forty students attended the event. Members prepared foods from a variety of regions and countries, including chicken adobo (Philippines), samosa (India), musubi (Japan), tteokgalbi (Korea), colcannon (Ireland) and quejidas (Portugual).

The APhA Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP) is a division of the American Pharmaceutical Association. Its purpose is to foster the professional development of students. The organization sponsors a number of programs including the Poison Prevention Program for pre-school and early grade school children, the Drug Abuse Awareness Program for grade school and high school students, a hypertension screening program, "brown bag counseling," and a Big Brother/Big Sister program.

The International Pharmaceutical Students Federation (IPSF) supports service outreach programming. Their goal is to focus on initiatives to under-served populations and assist with organizing medical mission trips and other local and regional outreach.

For over 130 years, the University at Buffalo School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences has continually been a leader in the education of pharmacists and pharmaceutical scientists, renowned for innovation in clinical practice and research. The school is accredited by the American Council of Pharmaceutical Education (ACPE) and is the No. 1 ranked school of pharmacy in New York State and No. 22 in the United States by U.S. News & World Report.
