“This is an excellent tool to enhance the growth and development of future leaders in higher education and is another way in which the MAC can provide value to its membership beyond intercollegiate athletics. ”
Jon Steinbrecher, MAC Commissioner
William Prescott.

The program provides an opportunity for University at Buffalo faculty to gain valuable knowledge and experience in academic leadership by working closely with select administrators from other colleges and universities in the MAC. The program has two components:

  • a university-level development program led by the Vice Provost for the selected University at Buffalo fellows
  • participation in two, 3-day MAC-wide workshops for all program participants held on one of the MAC school campuses

"This is an excellent tool to enhance the growth and development of future leaders in higher education and is another way in which the MAC can provide value to its membership beyond intercollegiate athletics," says MAC Commissioner Jon Steinbrecher.

Prescott practices in acute care general pediatrics. His teaching activities focus on pediatrics, patient assessment, and leadership development, where he has integrated blended-learning using a flipped-classroom model, case-based learning, team-based learning and simulation-based learning. His educational scholarship focuses on curriculum and active learning, and his clinical scholarship focuses on pediatric infectious diseases and pulmonary disease—he has published more than 50 peer-reviewed papers and abstracts.

Prescott serves as chair of the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) Pediatric Pharmacy Special Interest Group and as Treasurer of the New York State Council of Health-System Pharmacists. His innovative teaching techniques earned him a 2017 State University of New York Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching and a 2015 University at Buffalo Teaching Innovation Award.
