Research interest focuses on: asthma and geriatrics. Current projects include:
1. Analysis of quantitative information collected on demographic, socioeconomic, and asthma-related variables to identify factors associated with low
adherence to asthma medications among predominantly African American and Puerto Rican patients at primary care clinics in Buffalo.
2. Pharmacist site-investigator for the NHLBI-funded CAPTION (Collaboration Among Pharmacists and Physicians to Improve Outcomes Now) Study which aims
to determine if Physician-Pharmacist Collaborative Management (PPCM) of hypertension and asthma can improve blood pressure and asthma control compared
to usual care.
3. Regional study coordinator for the NHLBI-funded "Implementation of NHLBI Asthma Guidelines in Primary Care: A Comparison of 4 Approaches" study
which aims to determine if practice facilitation, local learning collaboratives, or both improve care for asthma patients compared to usual care.
4. Outcomes ascertainment for the AHRQ-funded "A Systems Engineering Approach: Improving Medication Safety with Clinician Use of Health IT" study which
aims to determine if an IT-based CRM tool can reduce preventable medication adverse events among ambulatory geriatric patients. |
