Lead. Create. Care.

Since 1886, the University at Buffalo School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (SoPPS) has been a national leader in education and research in both Pharmacy Practice and the Pharmaceutical Sciences. Consistently ranked among the top pharmacy schools in the United States, SoPPS boasts the nation’s second most productive research program in terms of National Institutes of Health (NIH) funding per faculty member.

As a renowned center for education and groundbreaking research, admission to the school’s professional, undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate programs in pharmacy practice and pharmaceutical sciences is highly competitive. We welcome your interest in becoming part of our proud tradition of accomplishment and excellence.

Pharmacy Practice

The doctor of pharmacy degree, also called the Pharm.D., entails about two years of pre-pharmacy courses followed by four full-time years of professional study that provide an educational foundation for a career in pharmacy. Combined degree programs, including a Pharm.D./M.B.A., Pharm.D./J.D., and a Pharm.D./Ph.D., are also available at UB SoPPS. The program prepares the pharmacist, as a therapeutic drug manager, to be a member of the health-care team working with physicians, non-physician providers, and other allied health professionals. Our challenging Pharm.D. program promotes excellence and integrity in our graduates making them among the most sought-after in the country.

Pharmaceutical Sciences

The Pharmaceutical Sciences Program at UB SoPPS offers cutting edge undergraduate (B.S. and B.S./M.S.) and graduate (M.S. and Ph.D.) programs. The degrees are interdisciplinary fields of study that seek to achieve better understanding and control of the factors influencing clinical response to drug therapy. If you are interested in combining chemistry, biology, mathematics, and computer science with human anatomy, physiology, and biochemistry to work on the development of treatments to prevent disease and improve health, a degree in the pharmaceutical sciences may be for you. Our graduates become innovators—guiding and shaping the future of healthcare in academia, in government, and in world renowned companies.
