Combined Bachelor and Master of Science Degree

  • What is it?  This is an accelerated program for academically qualified students which allows for completion of both BS and MS requirements in PHC in 5 years. In comparison, separate completion of these two degrees normally require 5.5 to 6 years. Students in this program will be awarded one degree only (BS/MS), and they therefore will not graduate with a separate BS with their class.

  • Who are eligible for it?  Only students enrolled in the BS program in Pharmaceutical Sciences with good to excellent academic record (a minimum GPA of 3.0) may apply.

  • When should one apply?  Applications should be submitted before September 30 of the Fall semester of the student’s senior year.

  • What is the status of the program?  Approval of this program has been granted by the State Education Department of New York.

  • Where can graduates of this program do?  Because of their research experience, graduates of this program are highly sought after by pharmaceutical companies. Some graduates proceed to obtain a PhD degree in pharmaceutical or biomedical research.

  • Questions?  Please direct questions to Dr. Murali Ramanathan, Director of Graduate Studies at murali@buffalo.edu.
