
Dr. Brazeau is an Associate Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences. She is also the Associate Dean at the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University at Buffalo (UB), State University of New York and is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice since August 1, 2000. She served as an Assistant/Associate Professor of Pharmaceutics and as the Assistant Dean for Curricular Affairs and Accreditation at the University of Florida College of Pharmacy (1993-2000) and as an Assistant Professor at the University of Houston College of Pharmacy (1989-1992). She received her Bachelor's of Pharmacy (1980) and Master's in Pharmaceutical Sciences (1983) from the University of Toledo College of Pharmacy. She received her PhD in Pharmaceutics from UB (1989). She served on the Food and Drug Administration Scientific Advisory Committee for the Pharmaceutical Sciences (1994-1998) and on several Ad Hoc National Institute of Health Small Grant Review committees from 1998-2000. Dr. Brazeau has been involved in numerous professional organizations including the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists, the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy in elected and volunteer positions. She is currently the 2000-2001 Chair-Elect of the Teachers of Pharmaceutics Section in the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy. She is also a member of the United States Pharmacopoeia Committee of Revision for Parenteral Compounding. In addition, she is the Chair of the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy Graduate Affairs and Research Committee 2000-2001).
Her PK/PD modeling interests and capabilities include the disease- or drug-induced modeling of muscle wasting (cachexia) using the biomarker myostatin, the pharmacodynamics of estrogen in growing skeletal muscle models and mechanisms of drug-induced muscle damage via local and systemic administration, and the pharmacodynamics and pharmacogenomic changes in cardiac muscle, skeletal muscle, and immune function with binge drinking.
