Alumni Affairs

The Alumni Association offers you an easy way to reconnect with friends and classmates and meet today's students and faculty. Our mission is to support current students as well as support fellowship among the alumni of the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University at Buffalo. Alumni support and networking opportunities allow students to and alumni to grow and gain knowledge from their colleagues. Becoming a dues paying member of the Alumni Association allows these alumni networking and student support opportunities to occur and become even more successful.

Willis G. Gregory Memorial Award: Mario Rocci ’76 ‘81        

Mario is currently the Executive Vice President of Prevalere Life Sciences, LLC, Congress Chair of the Pharmaceutical Sciences World Congress 2010 and Chair of the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences National Industrial Advisory Council

 

Orville C. Baxter Memorial Professional Practice Award: Tammie Lee Demler ’92 ’02.

Tammie Lee is currently the Director for Pharmacy Services for the Buffalo Psychiatric Center and serves as Program Director for the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences Psychiatry Residency Program. Tammie Lee was also Past President of the Pharmacists’ Society of the State of New York.

The SoPPS Alumni Association is proud to honor two such distinguished alumni and further recognize their great impact on the fields of pharmacy and pharmaceutical sciences.

 

 

2010 Alumni Association Awards Nomination Process

Nominations for our 2010 Awards are currently being accepted with a submission deadline of November 1, 2009.  Information on awards and nomination processes are below.

Orville C. Baxter Memorial Professional Practice Award
This award, bearing the name of our long standing faculty member extraordinarily dedicated to the professional practice of pharmacy, seeks to recognize an outstanding practicing pharmacist who demonstrates high ideals of professionalism and who's practice of pharmacy demonstrates genuine concern for patients.

 

Eligibility: The recipient must be a practicing pharmacist with at least five years of experience and have a B.S. in Pharmacy or a Pharm.D. degree from the University at Buffalo School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences.

Selection Guidelines: Nominees should be considered based on their professional and innovative pharmacy practice, concern for patients, pursuit of continuing education, mentoring of pharmacy students, participation in community health information programs; and ability to work cooperatively and effectively with others.

Willis G. Gregory Memorial Award

This award, which bears the name of our 4th Dean, seeks to recognize an outstanding pharmacist who personifies the ideals of service, integrity, and who personifies the profession of pharmacy in the eyes of his or her associates.

 

Eligibility: The recipient must be a pharmacist and hold a degree from the University at Buffalo School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences.

Selection Guidelines:  Nominees should be considered based on their exemplary, longstanding and professional service; longstanding contributions to pharmacy organizations, the University at Buffalo and the community; and unique achievements, discoveries and other contributions to society.

If possible, please submit a resume with all nominations,  If this is not possible, please submit reasons/documentation as to why applicant meets selection criteria.  Contact information for the nominee would also be appreciated.
