Advisement for Professional PharmD StudentsAs a SoPPS student, you have access not only to faculty and facilities that rank among the most distinguished in the world but also to many resources, including outstanding advisement, that will help you succeed in your education and career. Academic advising is a top priority at UB SoPPS. Here, we have a tradition of student-focused advisement, guidance, and mentoring and offer an open-door policy among our faculty and administrators and also encourage our enrolled students to serve as mentors. As a SoPPS student, you have access not only to faculty and facilities that rank among the most distinguished in the world but also to many resources, including outstanding advisement, that will help you succeed in your education and career. During their first professional (P1) year, students are assigned to a faculty advisor who will provide direction and assist new students in developing their educational plans. After their P1 year, students are assigned to a “faculty specialist” advisor who matches the student’s academic and professional interests which is determined by a student interest survey. Advisors work with their students during scheduled meetings, open hours, phone, or email. Students in the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences Scholars Program receive additional mentorship opportunities. A Resident Mentor Program is also available for students in the P4 year who wish to be matched with a UB resident based on interest and availability. Contact Ashley Toale, Chief Resident, at toale.ashley@gmail.com for more information.
