Course Information
> Students CurriculumUB’s innovative curriculum is experiential, taking the lessons of the classroom and laboratory into real-world settings, where students develop crucial leadership skills and make tangible contributions to their field.
ElectivesA list of approved non-SoPPS professional elective courses is available here: PharmD Approved Outside Electives. To request approval to enroll in a course that is not in this list, a student must complete a Request for Professional Elective Credit for a Non-SoPPS Pharmacy Course Form. A student will not receive professional elective credit without approval. The suggested electives are designed to focus on several areas that include inpatient care, outpatient care, and research. All foci enable interested students to pursue post-doctoral training opportunities such as residencies, fellowships, or graduate studies. See Recommended Elective Courses for Each Area of Focus. Also, please refer to the Spring 2012 Elective Course Booklet for more information about elective choices.
Experiential EducationExperiential Education is required of PharmD students, including Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experiences (IPPEs) and Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences (APPEs). IPPEs take place in the first professional year (P1) through the third professional year (P3), while APPEs take place in final fourth year (P4). This provides students the opportunity to apply what they have learned in the classroom and in the laboratory to real-world settings.
