Residency & Fellowship Training

Residencies and fellowships offered through the Department of Pharmacy Practice offer numerous advantages over most freestanding programs and many other programs affiliated with other universities. Our residency programs offer outstanding opportunities for PGY1 and PGY2 training in primary care specialties as well as sub-speciality training in a variety of healtthcare settings. Our high caliber fellowships offer candidates the opportunity to train in industry based programs, HIV/ID, advanced PK/PD and Molecular Imaging.

Residents and Fellows receive a Clinical Instructor appointment, teach and precept our PharmD students, participate in a teaching certificate program, have the ability to structure an individualized training program and have access to the many scholarly resources available at the Univeristy at Buffalo, the largest and most comprehensive research university in the State University of New York system.

Residencies

Residencies are postgraduate training programs that provide essential clinical training for advancement within the profession of pharmacy. The mission of the University at Buffalo School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences’ residency program is to educate pharmacy residents in pharmacy practice, clinical precepting, didactic teaching, clinical research and manuscript writing; to provide patient care; and to provide services to the community at large based upon this knowledge.  Our goal is to develop leaders who will practice autonomously as an integral member of the health-care team in the clinical pharmacy setting and/or as a clinical faculty member in the academic setting in a professional, ethical, and competent manner.  If you would like more information about our residency programs, a detailed overview is posted here:
