Applications, Interviews and Ambassadors
The SoPPS Office of Admissions and Advisement is pleased to report an increase of 71 overall applications from 2008 to 2009 for the doctor of pharmacy (PharmD) program. Sixty early assurance candidates have been accepted (up from 36 in 2008). Undergraduate and graduate applications in the pharmaceutical sciences are indicating a continued strong applicant pool. The Office of Admissions and Advisement is facilitating interviews for highly talented PharmCAS (PharmD) applicants and will finalize our Class of 2013 in August. 2009 interview days included an enhanced welcome and recruitment presentation, a 2:1 interviewer to interviewee format, a guided campus walking tour, and a friendly student social reception with some great Buffalo food.
The Office of Admissions and Advisement recognizes the valuable role of alumni and students in the recruitment process, especially sharing positive experiences and advice with prospective students. The office is pleased to have had such a positive response to our volunteer program Dean's Ambassadors. The ambassador program currently has 45 student volunteers representing all four classes, as well as more than 56 alumni ambassadors. The Office of Admissions and Advisement sends special thanks to our Dean's Ambassadors and our faculty, staff, and alumni e-reviewers and interviewers!
