Graduating Student Professional Practice Review Series

The Pharmacy Professional Practice Review Series provides a comprehensive review for graduating pharmacy students and pharmacists in preparation for the New York State Board of Pharmacy Examination. The program consists of lecture and laboratory components. Areas covered include compounding prescriptions, sterile products, preparation for the Part III written examination, and pharmacy law.

Individuals may register for one or all sessions.The pharmacy law portion is a law review, not a simulated New York State MPJE exam.

2016 Session Information

Session I: Review of Part III of the NYS Board of Pharmacy Licensing Examination

Session I is now full and registration is closed to non-UB students. No checks or online registrations can be accepted for Session 1 for non-UB students.

Session I: Review of Part III of the NYS Board of Pharmacy Licensing Examination

Dates: Monday, May 16 - Tuesday, May 17, 2016

Location: 125 Kapoor Hall, UB South Campus

Cost: $220 UB students, $320 non-UB students

Students will receive information in their program binder consisting of review material that can be used to aid in exam preparation. A video to prepare candidates for the Part III written exam will also be shown during lunch on Tuesday, May 17, 2016 during the review series.

Session II: Simulated Compounding Examination

Session II: Simulated Compounding Examination

Date: Wednesday, May 18, 2016

Time: 1:00 - 4:00 p.m.

Location: 130 Kapoor Hall, UB South Campus

Cost: $90 UB students, $135 non-UB students

In this laboratory component, students will have the opportunity to compound various dosage forms, practice aseptic techniques, and have their products analyzed.

This session will simulate the conditions of the actual New York State Board of Pharmacy Part III Laboratory Examination.  Registrants for this session will be required to compound three products in a three hour time period. Registrants will work independently, and proctors will observe techniques and compounding procedures. Each examination will be evaluated. The individual evaluations and proctor comments will be provided to the registrants prior to the June 2016 New York State Board of Pharmacy Examination.

Please wear a lab coat. Professional dress is required for the simulated exam. Please bring a simple 4-function calculator. Electronic balances will be used; weight sets are not required.

This session is designed for non-UB students who have not had extensive exposure to compounding. Basic compounding techniques will be reviewed and discussed.

Locations: 125 and 190 Kapoor Hall, UB South Campus

Cost: $195 UB students, $295 non-UB students

This session will provide a comprehensive review for graduating pharmacy students and pharmacists in preparation for the law portion of the 2016 New York State Board of Pharmacy Examination. Pharmacists in all practice settings need a working knowledge of the laws, rules and regulations that govern medication in NYS. This includes the profession of pharmacy practice as well as understanding provider prescription practices.

Kapoor Hall, on UB's south campus, is located at the corner of Winspear Avenue and Winridge Road in Buffalo, NY

Parking is free. Use the Parker Lot Southside of Kapoor Hall.  Enter off the Winspear at Winridge Avenue entrance.  No ticketing will occur in the Parker Lot only.
