Pharmacy Preceptor Certificate Program: Basic Clinical Skills Update
Why you should attend...
THE PHARMACY PRECEPTOR CERTIFICATE PROGRAM is designed to provide practicing pharmacists with an opportunity to
learn clinical skills useful at their work site as well as skills useful in precepting pharmacy students.
Target audience: Pharmacists practicing in all settings who plan to precept students.
PROGRAM OBJECTIVES
At the conclusion of the program, the participants will be able to:
- Understand the purpose of the clerkship program and their role as a preceptor.
- Be able to develop, monitor, and modify pharmaceutical care plans as described in the ASHP Pharmacotherapy Clinical Skills Modules or the Ambulatory Care Clinical Skills Core Module.
- Apply the approach to pharmaceutical care plans, as described in the respective ASHP modules, to patients at their own work site.
- Understand and be able to complete all student assignments
- Demonstrate the ability to perform medication histories, patient counseling, patient assesment, and engage in provider communication.
REQUIREMENTS
Participants must meet the preceptor eligibility requirements established by the University at Buffalo School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences.
Participants in this certificate program will be required to complete Parts I through V. Parts I and II are self-study and must be completed before beginning Parts III and IV. Once parts I through IV are successfully completed, the participants may take
the written examination (Part V).
