EARLY ASSURANCE PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS - DOCTOR OF PHARMACY (PHARMD)
If you enjoy working with people, excel in science, and would like a rewarding career in health care, then check out the AACP website to see if Pharmacy is right for you! The University at Buffalo (UB) offers incoming freshmen who enter UB directly from high school an opportunity to earn a doctor of pharmacy (PharmD) degree through our Early Assurance program. Students must indicate pharmacy as their intended major and complete their prerequisites at UB and adhere to the Early Assurance requirements in order to be considered for admission to the four-year professional program. All other applicants are accepted into the program as Regular/PharmCAS applicants.
Prerequisite Courses
Intended Early Assurance/UB freshmen will spend their first two undergraduate years taking pre-pharmacy prerequisite coursework per the program requirements/guidelines listed below.
Please select the year you were admitted to UB to view your Early Assurance Program Requirements (opens PDF):
Step 1: For High School Seniors: Apply for Undergraduate Admission to UB
High school seniors applying as a freshman to the University at Buffalo must indicate pharmacy as their intended major either on their initial application (international students, learn more here) or before the end of their first semester at UB. All students described above are automatically eligible for Early Assurance. There is no additional paperwork to complete as an incoming freshman. Please note: Office of Undergraduate Admissions is not involved with the Early Assurance program, therefore you will not receive any information regarding this program with their admission decision. Finally, if you are considered an Early Assurance student, please do not submit an initial application through PharmCAS.
Step 2: For Currently Enrolled UB Sophomores: Submit the Early Assurance Form During your Sophomore Year
Pay your Supplemental Admission Application Fee and complete the Supplemental Admission Application Form during your sophomore year at UB (available August 1). The completed application must be
received or postmarked by November 2 . NOTE: This is the only required form for Early Assurance Applicants to
complete.
Step 3: For Currently Enrolled UB Sophomores: Prepare for an Interview
After you complete the previous steps and your fall semester grades are posted, qualified candidates will be contacted by e-mail for an invitation to interview. For more information and preparation tips, visit www.pharmacy.buffalo.edu/admissions_pharmd_interview.shtml.
