Pharmaceutical Sciences Accelerated BS/MS Program

The BS/MS is a five-year, accelerated program for academically qualified students that are already enrolled for the BS degree in our program. Graduates of this program are highly sought after by pharmaceutical companies.

Applications open in July and are due November 1 (fall semester of the senior year). Decisions are emailed by mid-December.

Admission Requirements

  • Only accepted UB Pharmaceutical Sciences BS students in their junior year are eligible.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0
  • Successful completion of all Pharmaceutical Sciences Undergraduate Program prerequisites, including Physics II
  • Two letters of recommendation from faculty knowledgeable of the student's ability and capability. Evaluators should comment on laboratory research, communication skills, creativity, and intangibles in the student's academic performance. An email request will be sent directly to your recommenders when you submit your application for formal review.
  • Personal statement
  • Starting your senior spring semester, you will be considered a graduate student. At this time, you must amend your FAFSA form as soon as possible to reflect the change to graduate status. This change permits eligibility for graduate student loans. Students will *not* receive TAP, NYS aid or other undergraduate financial aid packages. Please feel free to contact UB Financial Aid for more information (716-645-8232 or ubfa@buffalo.edu).

Application Steps

Step 1: Submit Your Application

Apply!

  • Once you formally submit your application, your evaluators will automatically be notified to submit their letters of recommendations.
  • Official transcripts are not required during the application process. Unofficial copies are sufficient. If admitted, you will need to provide the official transcripts prior to enrolling at UB as instructed.
  • Please DO NOT mail any official documents unless specifically requested to do so.
  • If you have any questions, please email pharmsci-admissions@buffalo.edu.

Step 2: If International, Provide Additional Documents

International students apply online using the same method as other students, but must supply additional information.

International Student Checklist Uploads: Your admission is being recommended to the Office of International Admissions. They will determine your eligibility to receive the official documents necessary to apply for a Student Visa (should you require one). U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service guidelines require that total financial resources must be clearly documented before institutions of higher education may issue Certificates of Visa Eligibility. You will need to submit the International Student Financial Form to document your ability to meet the educational and personal expenses of your proposed study program. You must prove immediate availability of the first year's expenses and tuition and a reliable source of support for subsequent years. The University at Buffalo reserves the right to withdraw admission and revoke the Certificate of Visa Eligibility if it learns that any fraudulent documents, false or misleading statements, or omitted information were submitted as part of your application. Additionally, your admission is contingent upon receipt of your final, official transcript indicating the conferral date for your bachelor’s degree. International students will receive notification to upload checklist documents:

  • Passport biographical page
    UB financial form
    Bank statement

*Requested documents must be uploaded as instructed and submitted electronically. Please do not send any mail, unless instructed to do so.

Step 3: Check Your Status

Letters of Recommendation (LORs): Your requests for LORs will be sent automatically when you formally submit your UB application. When recommenders complete their letters, they will automatically be attached to your online application. If you need to resend LOR requests, you can do so on your application after you formally submit your application. If you need to change recommender information, contact pharmsci-admissions@buffalo.edu with the name and email address.

Decisions: You will receive a notification once a decision has been made on your application. You can expect to hear from us anytime through May.
